Restoration of the 1870 George Stevens Organ
35 minutes
Thanks to HCTV for recording this event.
This presentation to the Harvard Historical Society board and committee was given by:
Johnathan Ross, Restoration Project Manager and Ryan Bartosiewicz, Tonal Director
It was recorded on August 19, 2020
It was interesting to recall that the work on the installation of the restored organ was delayed by almost a year, by the onset of Covid and the restrictions that were put in place. For weeks and months, we could not meet or go out, and then masking was required. Once the organ restoration was completed, Jonathan and Ryan agreed to put on this presentation in August of 2020, so our committee and board members could make the determination that the restoration work was completed satisfactorily and then make final payment. As you could see in the video, there were only a small handful of people in the audience. I’m not sure why this was recorded but I think it was well done and is a good record of the experience that Andover had in restoring the organ and their feelings about this instrument and its contribution to history. The video is a wonderful addition to our website and our record of the story of the organ.
