Slant top desk; four graduated drawers; thumbnail molding on drawers and supports; two sliding supports; brass keyholes, round oak pulls not original; square tapered feet; lid fitted with replaced circular oak lock; interior: central door above single drawer; flanked on each side by long upper drawer above two shorter drawers above four equal size pigeon holes; original pulls on interior doors; central door with keyhole.Provenance: brought to Mt. Lebanon Shaker Colony between 1778 and 1790; used in the Shaker Deacon's room about 100 years and it was one of a very few pieces to survive the great Mt. Lebanon fire of 1875; the desk was sold by Emma Neil, Trustee, on May 10, 1938 to G.M. Brewer of Pittsfield, Mass.; purchased from him by Mrs. Sturdy on Oct. 3, 1956 lower inside right drawer missing, pull with brass lock in its place
