On September 25, 2021, we celebrated the unique history of the Harvard Common: the people, places, and events that help tell the story of Harvard’s identity. The program took place on the Common.

  • 1:00 & 2:30 Interactive History Talk
    with Carlene Phillips, author of “A Common History: The Story of Harvard’s Identity.”

  • 2:30 – 3:30 Meet Dusty
    & Harvard Police Dept. Det. Daniele Fortunato

  • A Common history tour presentation by Carlene Phillips, author of the book “A Common History” (Will be on sale that day!)
  • Living history characters – Join Dr. Herbert Royal, painter Luke Pollard, restauranteur Rachel McTighe, and philanthropist Emily Hildreth as they reminisce about their experiences and contributions living around the Harvard Common.
  • A children’s scavenger hunt – Follow the clues and discover some of the hidden history of the Common. First 30 participants receive a prize!
  • Photo opportunity in the Town Stocks – Get the photo of a lifetime as Mom, Dad, and the whole family get “locked up” for their crimes! Whether it’s “Crimes Against Fashion,” “Failure to Observe Silence,” or “Parental Disobedience,” we’ll have a crime to fit every alleged lawbreaker!
  • Wekepeke 4-H – Club members will be present with some of their goats for people to socialize with. Additionally, the club members will demonstrate a variety of fiber arts:  as carding, spinning, weaving, felting, and knitting.
