Herbade (Hancock Shakers)
Shaker recipeNumber of servings: Serves 12
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 quarts boiling water
- 1 cup lemon balm
- 2 cups borage
- 1 cup mint
- juice of 6 lemons, 2 oranges
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1 quart strong tea
- Syrup made of 1 cup sugar boiled with 1 cup water
- 3 quarts ginger ale
Instructions
- Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over lemon balm. Steep 20 minutes.
- Strain onto borage and mint leaves.
- Add fruit juices, tea, and syrup.
- Let stand overnight or at least 8 hours.
- Strain, add ice and ginger ale and fresh mint leaves at the last moment.
