Ingredients

  • 1 1/2  cups fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup English walnut meats, chopped fine
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon dried mixed herbs (parsley, basil, marjoram. oregano, thyme, summer savory, tarragon, sage)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sage

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cook peas in water to cover and boil 3 minutes.
  3. Drain and puree in blender, sieve, or processor.
  4. Add bread crumbs, sugar, nut meats, seasonings, butter, and milk.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Line a bread pan with wax paper, fill with the mixture and let stand for 15 minutes.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Serve with Cheese Sauce, adding 1 tablespoon powdered sage.
